The 10 Worst ’90s Songs According To Rolling Stone Readers Poll
YOU like bad music!
Looking back in time never really does us any good, does it? I mean, sure, there’s memories, and photographs and stuff, but there’s also some terrible music! We tend to look back and think, “Oh no! I OWN ED that CD cassette!” Ok, ok, most of us did finally have CDs in the 90s, but whatever method we used to listen to music produced the same results.
Rolling Stone magazine constructs lists from time to time that shed light on just how bad we are as consumers. The latest enlightenment came in the form of a Worst Songs of the 90s readers poll. We had to discuss this Top 10 list on the Kevin & Bean show, and have listeners weigh in on accuracy of said list.
I’m sure we can agree that some of these 10 Worst Songs were liked at some point. This is both awesome and troubling. Limiting this list to just 10 songs though doesn’t seem to do the 90s justice! There are so many more terrible songs. Among those that didn’t make the top 10 list, but deserve an honorable mention, are the following gems:
Those aren’t even the ones that made the actual list. The list is practically indisputable. Continue on to see the tragic music that infiltrated our youth.
10. 4 Non Blondes – “What’s Up”
This song comes from a chick who wore goggles on a top hat, and didn’t even like her own band’s music.
9. Right Said Fred – “I’m Too Sexy”
This would be better if he was actually too sexy.
8. Baha Men – “Who Let the Dogs Out”
We can blame Bean’s Seattle Mariners for the unnecessary repetition of this song.
7. Celine Dion – “My Heart Will Go On”
Celine Dion beats her chest like radio beat this into the ground!
6. Hanson – “MMMBop”
For guys that actually are talented musicians I bet they wake up daily regretting this song!
5. Chumbawamba – “Tubthumping”
Thanks for telling us what kind of drinks he’s consumed.
4. Vanilla Ice – “Ice Ice Baby”
Which is worse: Vanilla Ice or Natty Ice? This is from the guy who also brought us “Ninja Rap.” Go ninja, go ninja GO!
3. Billy Ray Cyrus – “Achy Breaky Heart”
This is the worst thing he’s ever produced… other than Miley.
2. Los Del Rio – “Macarena”
This song makes people that can’t dance believe they can.
1. Aqua – “Barbie Girl”
Them being Danish doesn’t make this song any better!
Let us know which songs were missed on this list of awesomely awful jams! (My pick was White Town’s “Your Woman,” but not only does the video redeem the song, but I also got vetoed by Dave the King of Mexico.)
